Suppliers of the furniture sector want to boost business in foreign markets
Seven manufacturers of raw materials, technologies and accessories for the furniture industry have joined Orchestra Brasil – a project to promote exports carried out by Sindmóveis in partnership with Apex-Brasil – this year: Adami (manufacturer of components), Base Componentes (manufacturer of accessories), Lamiecco (manufacturer of finishes), Maquinapack (manufacturer of technologies), Neo Componente (manufacturer of accessories), Inmes (manufacturer of technologies) and Soprano (manufacturer of accessories). The number of members taking part in the project to boost exports of suppliers for the furniture industry totals now 89, including 65 manufacturing companies and 24 designers participating in this year’s initiatives.
By joining Orchestra Brasil, Soprano Eletrometalúrgica e Hidráulica, based in Farroupilha, intends to strengthen its presence abroad participating in trade fairs. The exports coordinator of the Construction Division, Anderson Onzi, explains that the company already has business in Latin American and European countries, but only occasionally used to take part in fairs. One of the goals of Soprano is to strengthen the company in the African markets, exporting its flagship product: lockers and hinges for doors. “We will have the opportunity to open new markets and strengthen the brand where we already have business. Today, our export volume accounts for approximately 5% of our production, but we would like to reach between 10% and 15% in the next two years, “he says.
The Orchestra Brasil project – a partnership between Sindmóveis (Furniture Industry Association of Bento Gonçalves) and Apex-Brasil (Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) dates back to 2003 and promotes the competitive inclusion of suppliers of the woodworking industry into the international market on a sustainable basis. In 2012, the project will participate in following trade shows: ForMóbile São Paulo), Tecnomueble (Guadalajara), IWF (Atlanta), Expo Ferretera (Guadalajara), Intermob Istanbul, Fenafor Peru (Lima), Roadshow Mercosur, Design Miami and the Business Center of Apex-Brasil in Miami.
