Yesterday evening, March 26, Movelsul Brasil 2014 recognized the Latin American talent and the partnership between design and the furniture industry. The ceremony to honor de 25 Salão Design award winners featured Sindmóveis’ partners, exhibitors of the fair, sponsors and honorees. Altogether, the 18th edition of the competition distributed R$175,000 to the winners.
Aligned with the theme of Movelsul Brasil, which focuses on the new Brazilian middle class, the judging panel rewarded the products that best expressed the concept of democratic design – taking into consideration a clear and accessible understanding of all languages. In his welcome speech, the director of Salão Design, Cristiano Gallina, pointed out that the competition has been following the social changes that affect the consumption of furniture in Brazil. According to him, the event encourages ideas, innovations and solutions. "Design is undoubtedly largely responsible for attracting the new middles class and exceeding their expectations. I am happy with the result of the award and I believe that the winning products reflect a greater concern with this new niche of Brazilian consumers,” he said.
The president of Sindmóveis Henrique Tecchio, encouraged the partnership between manufacturing companies and designers. "We want to witness the success of this integrated work between manufacturing companies and designers because we are convinced that everyone will benefit from it. Consumers are offered better products; designers have more participation in the market and manufacturing companies increase their sales. Companies that invest in this partnership recognize its many advantages and do not back out."
Salão Design has been held by Sindmóveis Bento Gonçalves since 1988, having assessed 11,228 entries in the Student, Professional and Industry classes. Until next Friday, March 28, the winning products and other finalists are exhibited at Movelsul Brasil 2014 at Parque de Eventos in Bento Gonçalves.
