This Monday, August 22, starts the registration for the 21st Salão Design Award, the major product design award in Latin America. Highlighting its new brand, the campaign enhances clean contemporary identity with striking features and showing the strength of design. This competition has important changes in the regulation of the award, including five new categories in the traditional classes: Student, Professional and Industry.
In addition to cash prizes, the regulation contains the Master Teacher Trophy and the Alternative Woods Award to products made from species of Brazilian wood not included among those considered by the Forest Products Laboratory of the Brazilian Forest Service as very much used, in the past or at present, for the manufacture of furniture and other products.
Held since 1988 by Sindmóveis Bento Gonçalves, the Salão Design Award highlights designers’ skills and talent, encouraging the production of value-added furniture and accessories through design, as a way to improve competitiveness in the global market. The 21st award ceremony will take place during the High Design – Home & Office Expo in São Paulo in August 2017.
The deadline to register is November 21 at www.salaodesign.com.br site, where it is also possible to download the regulations in three languages. The award organizers emphasize the importance of reading the regulations carefully, especially because of the changes made.
