Orchestra Brasil Project presents action plans in a road show promoted by the furniture industry

04/06/2013

Meetings organized by Apex-Brasil will be held in major furniture centers  in Brazil, starting in Chapecó on June 11
According to the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency  (Apex-Brasil), the strengthening of export culture encourages innovation and qualification, increasing the competitiveness of the domestic industry. Taking part in the projects developed by the agency to promote internationalization, the furniture industry will be the target of a roadshow that will tour the main producing centers in Brazil. One of the study cases presented in this series of meetings will be the Orchestra Brasil Project, organized in partnership with  Sindmóveis and focused on suppliers for the furniture industry.

The traveling event, which starts on June 11, is an initiative of the Furniture  Competitiveness Council aiming to inform the entrepreneurs in each region about programs, financing, products and services provided by the institutions that comprise it. The Council consists of 26 public and private organizations, including Sindmóveis Bento Gonçalves, represented by its President Cátia Scarton. The aim of the group is to develop joint programs to increase the competitiveness of the furniture industry in the domestic and foreign markets.

During the roadshow, the main institutions that form the Council will present their initiatives. In addition to the Orchestra Brasil Project, another trade promotion project will be presented aimed at the furniture industry and developed in partnership with Apex-Brasil and business entities: Brazilian Furniture, which promotes exports of furniture and is developed by the Association of the Wood and Furniture Industry of the Federal District (Sindimam) and the Brazilian  Furniture Industry Association (Abimóvel).

The president of Sindmóveis, Cátia Scarton, considers this as an opportunity to provide furniture companies with the initiatives promoted by the organizations focusing on increasing competitiveness, qualification, innovation, financing and exports. “Entrepreneurs are not always able to contact the organizations and enjoy the sector-based projects developed for their benefit. This model of nationwide roadshow includes everyone and is very effective,” she says.

The business director of Apex-Brasil, Rogério Bellini, who coordinates the Furniture Competitiveness Council, also highlights the benefits of this approach. “By taking representatives of the Council to the production centers, we seek to bring them closer to the reality of the businessmen, so that in the future we can develop support policies that take into account the specific needs of the furniture industry. At the same time, the local entrepreneurs can ask for information about the support tools offered to the segment directly from those responsible for monitoring them,” he says.

The first part of the roadshow, in Chapecó, will be held in the auditorium of Simovale on June 11, from 8:30 am to 6 pm. Until the end of the year, the event will be held in São Paulo,  Arapongas, Mirassol, São Bento do Sul, Bento Gonçalves, Uba and Linhares. Participation is free of charge.
