Orchestra Brasil, a project that promotes exports organized by Apex-Brasil in partnership with Sindmóveis Bento Gonçalves, takes designer and member of the judging panel of Salão Design Leonardo Lattavo to Colombia for a series of lectures on May 28 in Bogota and on May 29 in Medellin. Lavatto will talk about Brazilian design references, in an initiative that reinforces the strategy developed by the project to position the Brazilian design abroad. Since 2012, the Orchestra Brasil Project has been carrying out events to promote the Brazilian design in Colombia, preparing the market for refeiving Brazilian furniture developed by designers.
The keynote lectures, held at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano and the Home Design Fair, will be the history of the Brazilian furniture and its roots. The action plan also includes meetings with Colombian journalists and opinion makers. Part of the Design Week of Colombia, Home Design is the main fair in the sector in the country, held in Medellin from May 29 to 31.
Architect and urban planner with a Master’s in architecture from Bartlett School of Architecture of London, Leonardo Lattavo is a professor of architecture at Pontifícia Universidade Católica (PUC) in Rio de Janeiro and founding member of Lattoog, a company based in Rio de Janeiro specializing in design and architecture. He was a member of the judging panel of Salão Design in 2011, 2013 and 2015.
Orchestra Brasil is a sector-based project that promotes the inclusion of suppliers to the woodworking industry and the sustainable entry of Brazilian design into the international market. To achieve this goal it promotes market research, missions to prospect markets, individual actions, Buyer’s Projects, Seller’s Projects and Image Projects, in addition to taking part in major world trade fairs. Currently, Orchestra Brasil comprises 74 companies and 50 design studios. The Orchestra Brasil Project’s strategy for positioning the design studios in the international market focuses the US market.
