A little less than a year to go before the opening of the 21st Movelsul Brasil, the fair that features furniture and accessories aimed at shopkeepers and importers, will present its campaign to authorities, partners and exhibitors on March 29 during the International Fair of Machines, Raw Materials and Accessories for the Furniture Industry (FIMMA Brasil 2017) at Parque de Eventos in Bento Gonçalves, RS.
Promoted by the Furniture Industry Association of Bento Gonçalves (Sindmóveis) since 1977, Movelsul Brasil will be held from March 12-15, 2018. The four-day event was scheduled taking into account the opinion of exhibiting companies and visitors. Two hundred exhibitors are expected to show their products for offices, kitchens, bedrooms, laundry rooms, bathrooms, gardens, dining and living rooms in addition to home appliances, rugs, upholstery and mattresses.
The last show, held in March 2016, received 29,000 trade visitors from 48 countries and surprised due to the intention of business in foreign markets. In addition to the Brazilian shopkeepers who attended the event, Movelsul Brasil had the largest Buyer’s Project in its history, with 780 business meetings between 120 Brazilian companies and 30 guest importers. Held since 2000 during the fair, the project supported by Apex-Brasil boosts exports by organizing meetings in the exhibitors’ booths.
According to the president of Sindmóveis, Edson Pelicioli, one of the alternatives for the sustainability of the furniture industry is to invest in market diversification and commercial promotion efforts. The entrepreneur sees the fair as a sale and positioning strategy, especially because Movelsul Brasil has the advantage of promoting good business in the main wine tourism destination in Brazil. "Sindmóveis, in all its action plans, strengthens its commitment to the woodworking industry, from the supplier of inputs and technologies, the industry itself, to the service provided by Brazilian designers. And also its commitment to the city of Bento Gonçalves and the people who work in the leading furniture manufacturing center in Brazil,” he says.
More about the fair
Along its history, Movelsul Brasil has featured more than 1,700 exhibiting companies. The first show took place in 1977, the year when the furniture industry became the major economic activity in Bento Gonçalves.
The 1st Mostra do Mobiliário de Bento Gonçalves, as it was called at the time, brought together 24 furniture manufacturers based in the city. In 1988, the fair was named Movelsul and had more than 100 exhibitors. That year also saw the first Salão Design Award. In the last 15 years, Movelsul Brasil has operated in the international market by holding the Buyer’s Project since 2000.
